Lalique Art Nouveau Brooches
Rene Lalique Art Nouveau Brooches are still findable and you should keep an eye out for these. The Lalique trademark is usually very small and partially concealed.
Usually these are in the form of insects of other nature subjects.
These are often glass with gilt metal mounts and the following can sometimes be found - frogs, snakes, monkfish, cicadas, birds of prey and plants.
These were often aimed at the cheaper end of the market and sometimes had geometric patterns.
These were press moulded glass over a foil base which gave the impression of an expensive enamel.
Other things to look out for are Lalique Buttons and very long glass necklaces (up to 50 inches long) designed to be worn as a coil around the ladies neck.
The lalique mark on these is on a single bead.
There were also transitional style brooches with designs containing Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs intertwined.
